What is this?

I wanted to set up a bittorrent tracker for a long time, but never had stuff which it would make sense for.

Now, I've been cleaning up my harddisks, webspaces, my RAID, CDs, USB drives and other mass storage for some time, as well as bookmarks set on the fly, links, textfiles with notes, and so on. Doing so, I recovered some old stuff that made me reminisce and think stuff like "I've been looking for that for a long time" or "I knew that I must have this somewhere".

Both circumstances gave me the idea of setting up "Lightning's lost+found BitTorrent Tracker on home.lightning-online.de:6969".

This shall not be a warez-tracker or something. I don't want to ruin someone financially or be a staging area for stolen licenses or searials or things like that (I guess you all know what I'm talking about). I just wanna "conserve" some things that should be kept and not be lost cause of time progress or decay of media.
- Things that let you say "damn cool, I didn't play/try/use this for a long long time".
- Things that you found useful earlier but simply forgot.
- Things that are useful but hard to get.
- Programs that lost features through developement progress or changes, but which were used because of these features.
- Older versions of programs that are simply better than their successors.
- ...

In short, anything that could be found in the "lost+found" directory of a linux filesystem, which should be the name origin of this, after being moved there because of a filesystem crash, but without being recognized immediately cause of a lack of recently usage or simply cause of oblivion.

In future I'll also publish my developed software, sourcecodes, configs, documentations, howtos and so on here. The useful stuff that shouldn't get lost ;).

What I ask you to do?

- First, I need seeds, of course ;). You share my opinion regarding some torrents? Well, download and share your bandwidth!
- Maybe you've got some stuff that matches my thoughts? Let me get it! Upload it to my FTP server. If it's too large for you to transfer and download it again afterwards, contact me and we'll talk about tracker-conform creation and uploads of own torrents.

Have fun on Lightning's lost+found BitTorrent Tracker on home.lightning-online.de:6969 :).
